This is a very popular and logical question for those considering a career in corporate training.

The salary you can expect to earn as a corporate trainer will vary depending on your circumstances and experience. We have created this article as a guideline to get you started.

What Glassdoor and Payscale report…

Based on Glassdoor’s reporting in the first quarter of 2020, a corporate trainer can expect to earn around €3K per month.

It should be emphasised that this is a very rough figure. Glassdoor notes that they do not currently have enough data for an accurate figure.

Payscale has some more solid findings for the same period. They report an average annual salary of €34, 579 for a Corporate Trainer working in Ireland.

Factors that affect your earning potential:

Both of the figures above should be noted as very general guidelines, as corporate training is a career with a very broad scope for salary earning potential.

Here are some factors that may affect what you can expect to earn as a trainer:

Where you are located

Payscale notes that usually, a trainer based in Dublin has a higher earning capacity than those outside of the capital.

This is most likely due to the high concentration of large, multinational organisations based in and around Dublin.

What subject(s) you can deliver training in

Some subjects, like Lean Six Sigma, project management, Agile, and Scrum are hugely in-demand right now.

Trainers who are knowledgeable, experienced, and qualified in these areas can expect fuller schedules and work with higher-paying employers.

What sectors are relevant to your expertise

Similar to the last factor, this refers to your client base. Tech, finance, and pharmaceutical organisations tend to have higher training budgets, and therefore may be able to provide you with a higher per-diem rate.

Your interest in further study and certification

If you’re continually upgrading your skills and knowledge areas while gaining credible certification in these areas, you can expect more doors to open for your training career.

Your credentials

The certifications you gain must be well-known and respected. We recommend training and certifying with experienced training providers who offer routes to established certifications.

A Note on Other, Non-Salary Benefits of Corporate Training

As we’re discussing one key benefit of corporate training (salary), let’s review 3 other important plus points of working in this role:

Flexibility

When you work as a corporate trainer, you choose your working days. This gives you the freedom to work outside a standard salaried job.

Variety

No two training groups are the same; even if you’re delivering from the same base material. Group dynamics, different industries, fresh challenges, and new perspectives all serve to make every working day as a corporate trainer an original experience.

Satisfaction

Working as a trainer is a very rewarding job. Seeing your trainees grasp new concepts, develop confidence in their abilities, and solve problems in their existing role brings a very high level of job satisfaction.
